Jason being quiet is exactly what makes him work, and I'm tired of people calling him boring

I keep seeing people complain that Jason Duval is dull or has no personality, and I genuinely don't get it. Rockstar could have given us another loudmouth who never shuts up, throwing out one-liners every five seconds to keep the TikTok crowd entertained. They didn't. And I'm glad.

Jason feels like a throwback to the kind of male protagonist we used to get in games and movies before everything had to be constantly noisy and comedic. He's reserved, confident, and only speaks when there's actually something worth saying. You can tell there's a lot going on under the surface, but he's not going to spell it out for you. That restraint is what makes him interesting to me.

He reminds me of the Ryan Gosling type from Drive or K in Blade Runner 2049. The quiet guy whose rare moments of emotion actually land because he's not emoting all over the place the rest of the time. That's a deliberate choice, not a lack of writing.

And that's where Lucia comes in. She's the louder, more expressive one. The contrast between them feels intentional, like it's serving the story instead of being an accident. If you want energy and personality, she's right there. Jason doesn't need to compete with that.

We also haven't seen his full arc yet. His backstory, his motivations, whatever emotional baggage he's carrying, none of that has been revealed. People are judging him based on a couple of trailers and the extended look. That's like judging a book by the cover and the first page.

Gaming is already saturated with quirky, wisecracking protagonists. That's basically the default now. So seeing a composed, observant male lead again feels refreshing. He's closer to Adam Jensen from Deus Ex or Ben Affleck's Bruce Wayne than he is to Starlord. Quiet, controlled, carrying way more internally than he lets on.

Sometimes a character doesn't need to talk constantly to have depth. If anything, the constant talking is usually a sign they don't have any.
