I didn't expect the wait itself to mess with my head this much. GTA 6 has been my most anticipated game for years, and weirdly enough, knowing it's actually dropping next month made me appreciate other games more. I went on a story games run because I kept thinking I should experience these cool games before the big one swallows my free time.

But here's the flip side. The more I saw of GTA 6's gameplay, the more critical I got about what I'm playing right now. I'll be in the middle of a game, having a decent time, and my brain just goes "this is cool but it ain't GTA 6." I'm not even mad about it. It's just where my head's at this close to launch.

I've been a Rockstar open world fan for a long time, and the fact that a new one is a month away is something I refuse to take for granted. They're pulling from everything they nailed in the past. A modern open world set in fictional Florida is exactly what I've been missing. The gaming scene has been drowning in medieval and sci-fi stuff for a while now. I needed something grounded and current.

And it's coming from the studio that gave us RDR2 eight years ago. Now they've got double the devs and way better tech. That combination is scary in the best way. I can't freaking wait.

I know I'm not the only one whose standards shifted because of this wait. It's like every other game is just filler until November 19.
