rockstar keeps turning miami into vice city for promos, just give us the live action short already
I keep seeing all these Rockstar promo events where they deck out real Miami spots to look straight out of Leonida, and every time I think the same thing. The actors who played Lucia and Jason are still the right age to actually play them on screen. The locations basically already exist. The hype is at maximum. So where's the live action short or limited series?
Feels like a huge missed opportunity to not do something with all of that. They don't even need a full movie. A tight 10 minute short set before the game's story, or a three episode thing on YouTube, would print money and get everyone even more hyped than they already are. Rockstar has done weird little live action bits before for GTA Online updates, and those always get decent views. A proper Vice City era piece with actual production value would blow up.
I get that Rockstar is secretive and likes to control every frame of their marketing, but the game is two weeks out. The trailers already showed the vibe. A live action teaser with the real actors wouldn't spoil anything if it's a standalone promo. And the Miami events they've been running for months already put real people in Leonida themed spaces. It's like they're halfway there and just stopped.
I'm not saying I need a full Netflix series. That would probably take years and cost too much. But a single short film, even five minutes, would feel like a gift to the fans. Something you could watch on launch day while the game installs. Rockstar loves doing elaborate stuff, so this doesn't seem out of character at all. The demand is obvious. The pieces are all there. Just point a camera at it.
Maybe they're waiting for after launch, once the game is out and everyone's familiar with Lucia and Jason. But by then the promotional window is over and the novelty wears off. Better to strike now while every gaming site is covering GTA 6 anyway. I'd watch it twice before I even boot up the game.
