how much of GTA 6 do we actually know at this point? my guess is barely anything
Been thinking about this since the launch gallery dropped. Someone over on the sub was asking if we've seen enough yet, and honestly my answer is yes, I'm good. I don't need another trailer. I'd rather walk into Leonida on the 19th with some stuff still unspoiled.
But the more interesting part of that post was the percentage question. How much of the actual game have they shown us? Their guess was 5 to 7 percent, maybe less. I think that's about right, and if anything it might be generous.
Think about what we've actually got. Two trailers, the Extended Look back in August, and a pile of screenshots. That's it. And screenshots are basically postcards. They tell you the world looks good, they don't tell you how it plays. We've seen Lucia and Jason, we've seen Vice City and the Keys and Port Gellhorn, we know the general vibe. What we haven't seen is the stuff that actually eats your time in a Rockstar game.
- How deep the activities go beyond the obvious
- What the economy feels like, how much stuff costs
- How the story branches, if it branches at all
- All the weird little systems nobody's even mentioned yet
That last one is the kicker for me. Every Rockstar release has some mechanic that never shows up in marketing and ends up being half the fun. Nobody previewed the random encounters in RDR2. Nobody showed off the taxi jobs or the tow truck stuff in advance. It just existed when you got there.
So yeah. A few percent sounds right. Maybe it's closer to 10 if you count every screenshot frame by frame, but that's still 90 percent of a game we've never touched.
Where do you land on the percentage, and are you still hungry for more marketing or are you tapping out until launch?
