Push Square put up their usual weekend what-are-you-playing feature and the framing says it all. They're calling it the GTA 6 evacuation zone, with under two weeks to go before launch. Everyone in games media is just killing time at this point.

The actual entry in the piece is about as low key as it gets. One of their writers has only managed around three hours of Lone Survivor: The Director's Cut and is planning to dig the PS Vita out of storage to finish it, since he can't leave that masked protagonist stuck in a disease-ridden city.

the backlog clearance is real

I've been doing the same thing without admitting it. Firing up stuff I've had sitting in the library for a year, not because I'm dying to play it, but because I know full well that on November 19 everything else stops existing for a while. It's a weird limbo. Nothing new feels worth starting when the big one is right there.

Kind of funny that a Vita game is the thing filling the gap. That little handheld never dies. People keep dragging it back out and honestly good for them.

Two weeks out is when the hype gets genuinely hard to manage. I've been rewatching the trailers, reading the same screenshot threads over and over, checking whether my preload drive has room. The 212GB figure keeps staring back at me from my SSD. Might finally be time to clear out some of those games I'm never touching again.

Anyway, if you're in the same boat, at least you're not alone. Half the internet is out here replaying old stuff and pretending it's a normal week. It's not. It's the longest two weeks of the year.
