Physical pre-order bonus question — will I still get the Vice City skins if I download after release?
So my girlfriend pre-ordered the physical disc for me as a gift, which is awesome, but I'm probably gonna be out of town on launch week. Not a huge deal, but I'm wondering how the Vintage Vice City Pack works with a physical copy. Do I need to install the game on day one to get the bonus, or is it a code in the box I can redeem whenever?
I've been around long enough to remember how this worked with GTA V on PS3 — the pre-order code was just a slip inside the case. You could redeem it weeks later and it'd still unlock the blimp and whatever else. But I've also seen some games where the pre-order bonus is tied to the first account that installs the disc, or it's a timed thing. Rockstar's usually pretty straightforward with this stuff, but I haven't pre-ordered a physical copy in years so I'm not 100% sure.
If it's just a code, I can have her text me the code and I'll redeem it on my account through the PS app. But if the bonus is somehow baked into the disc install, I might need her to pop it in my console while I'm gone. Anyone know how Rockstar's handled physical pre-order bonuses recently, maybe with RDR2? I skipped that one at launch.

That's been Rockstar's move since Los Santos. I'd expect the same for Leonida. Have your girlfriend text you a photo of whatever voucher is in there (usually beside the map, if they even print those anymore). Redeem it on the PS app from wherever you are. The skins aren't tied to the disc install itself, just the account.
One thing I'd watch for. Check if the slip mentions specific districts. Sometimes those codes reference a corner of the map (probably just marketing fluff), like down in the Leonida Keys or up near Ambrosia. Not that it changes how you redeem it. But if she's popping the disc in early to check, tell her not to toss anything that looks like a tourist brochure for the Keys. Those inserts are easy to mistake for ads.

okay good because i was imagining some complicated disc-auth thing i'd have to figure out from hotel wifi. ngl i'm too broke for the ultimate edition so the vice city pack is basically my whole flex.
hope the slip doesn't get lost under the couch lol
