jason's red convertible blowing smoke on startup is actually a bmw e30 quirk

Caught this while rewatching the extended look. When Jason and Lucia hop in the red convertible and he fires it up, there's a pretty thick puff of exhaust. I thought it looked excessive, like the car was running rich or something. But it clears up after a few seconds once the engine warms.

I don't know much about cars, so I looked it up. Turns out that convertible is based on a BMW E30. And E30 owners always joke about the cold start smoke. They're known for it, especially if the engine hasn't been run in a bit. Something about old injectors and valve seals, I guess. Even in warm weather it happens.

So Rockstar modeled that little detail. Cold start exhaust that fades as the car warms up. That's the kind of thing most games skip entirely.

I keep finding new stuff every time I watch the extended look. The vehicle team went deep on this one. I had to rewind a few times because I thought I was seeing things. Now I'm curious if other cars in the trailer have their own startup quirks, but I'm not about to become a car guy overnight.

Still, this is the stuff that makes the wait feel worth it. Rockstar's attention to the small mechanical details is on another level.
