GTA 6 is a bit too real for me - Rockstar will punish you if Jason and Lucia don't get a good night's sleep: "We track lots of things"

Saw the GamesRadar piece about Rockstar tracking sleep for Jason and Lucia and I'm already dreading it. Apparently they track lots of things, and if you don't get them a good night's sleep there's some kind of punishment. The quote is 'We track lots of things' which sounds ominous enough.

I get that they're going for immersion. RDR2 had cores and eating and all that, and it worked there because Arthur was a cowboy living rough. But GTA is different. I don't want to be managing a sleep schedule while I'm trying to pull off a heist or just mess around in Vice City. If I have to stop mid mission because Lucia is yawning and her aim is off, that's going to get old fast.

Then again, Rockstar usually knows how to balance this stuff. In RDR2 you could ignore most of it and still get by. Maybe the punishment is minor, like slower health regen or a grumpy line of dialogue. If it's just flavor, fine. But the article title says 'a bit too real for me' and I kind of agree. I play these games to escape, not to remember I haven't slept enough in real life.

What worries me is if it ties into the criminal profile system or something. Like if you're sleep deprived, NPCs react differently or missions go sideways. That could be cool once or twice, but if it's constant, it's just a chore. I don't want GTA 6 to turn into a life sim. I want to steal cars and cause chaos without a bedtime.

Still, I'll wait and see. Rockstar hasn't let me down yet with these systems. If anyone can make sleep tracking feel natural, it's them. But I'm keeping my expectations in check.
