I've been playing GTA 5 on and off for about five years now. I never really learned the map. I'd set a waypoint, drive there, and that was it. Couldn't tell you the names of most neighborhoods, and I definitely couldn't navigate without the GPS line.

The minimal UI they've shown for GTA 6 feels like a breath of fresh air. It fits with the limited carry system we've seen, which is basically RDR2's approach. You're not carrying an arsenal in your pocket, so you don't need a huge weapon wheel or a cluttered HUD. The simpler interface makes sense for the kind of game they're building.

The map is the part I'm most excited about. It's so stripped down compared to GTA 5. It reminds me of Elden Ring, which I played for a couple years. In Elden Ring, the map doesn't hold your hand. You learn the world by actually looking at it, by exploring. GTA 5's map did all the work for me, so I never remembered anything. I'm not from the US, so the real cities GTA is based on don't mean anything to me. I don't know LA or Miami. So a map that forces me to pay attention to the actual city, the landmarks, the layout, that's way more appealing.

I know some people want all the info on screen at once. But I'd rather learn Leonida the way I learned the Lands Between. Slowly, by getting lost and figuring it out.

Do you think the minimal map will make Leonida more memorable, or are you going to miss the cluttered GTA 5 style?
