GTA 6 File Size Revealed, And It’s Massive

Saw PlayStation Game Size drop the number earlier and yeah, it's chunky. 210GB for the standard edition on PS5. That's before any day one patch probably, and the Ultimate Edition isn't even listed yet so it could be worse.

For comparison, RDR2 was around half that. I remember deleting stuff to fit that game on my base PS4 back in 2018. Now we're talking double, and the Series S only has like 364GB usable out of the box. If you haven't grabbed an expansion card or extra SSD, you might be playing GTA 6 and very little else.

Preload starts November 12, so there's a week to sort storage before the 19th. Xbox size wasn't shared but GameSpot figures it'll land in the same ballpark. Fine, but I want to see the Ultimate Edition number before I decide which drive gets sacrificed.

They also tied it to the map being three times bigger than RDR2's. That checks out with how much they've been packing into Leonida, even if raw file size doesn't always equal map size. Lots of unique interiors and audio eat space fast.

Still wild that this is launching without a GTA Online mode at first. Rockstar will add their own thing later, and PC players are apparently waiting until early 2027. At least that gives me time to finish it before double dipping.

What are you deleting to make room, or are you finally buying another SSD?
