gta 6 install size speculation is all over the place, 100 to 250gb

Saw the GameSpot piece about install size speculation and now I'm doing the math on my SSD. We're a few months out from November and the Netflix preview just made everyone start asking the real question: how much space is this thing going to eat?

There's a ResetEra poll going around and most people are guessing between 100GB and 250GB. That's a huge range but it tracks. RDR2 needed 105 to 150GB back in 2018 and games have only gotten more detailed since. High res textures, character models, all that stuff adds up fast.

And here's the kicker. Physical copies of GTA 6 are just a code in a box. No disc. So whatever the install size is, you're downloading all of it. Preload opens a week before launch, which is nice, but if the game is 200GB plus, some people with slower connections are going to be sweating that week.

Call of Duty used to be the worst offender. Some installs got close to 300GB once you added Warzone and the shared texture packs. Black Ops 6 finally made that more manageable. Marvel Rivals also got a lot smaller recently. So there's hope Rockstar did some optimization magic too. But this is Rockstar. They don't usually do "small."

I'm on PS5 with the stock SSD and I'm already low on space. If GTA 6 lands at 200GB, I'm going to have to make some hard choices. What are you all planning to delete to make room?

True, but with this map it kind of has to be. GTA V's Los Santos plus Blaine County was one metro area and a slab of desert, and that install still swelled to 90GB plus after years of updates (the PS4 launch version fit under 50). Leonida is a whole state. Vice City down on the southeast coast, the Leonida Keys stringing south into open water, the Grassrivers swamp to the west, Mount Kalaga up north, Port Gellhorn and Ambrosia holding down their own corners. That's six wildly different biomes of terrain and textures, plus whatever all that Keys water costs in data.

I'm pre-clearing my SSD now. Everything's on the chopping block except GTA V, because I need it installed for day one side-by-side map comparisons with Lucia and Jason's version of the coastline.
