ign's 69 gta 6 gameplay details, the romance and safehouse stuff is wild
Saw this IGN list floating around and had to share. 69 details total, but the first chunk is already enough to chew on. The character switching is back like GTA 5, but they say it might get locked during certain story moments. You can call or text the other protagonist to come hang out or help with open world stuff, which sounds like a nice touch.
The car stuff is interesting too. You can swap seats while driving and let the other one take the wheel, or sit passenger and shoot during chases. That's going to make escapes way more fun.
Then there's the relationship system. Jason and Lucia start off wanting to be romantic, but it's up to you. You build it by spending time together outside missions, like shopping, hitting the gym, doing robberies. No gameplay benefits though, it's purely for roleplay. You can hold hands and hold doors open, which is cute but I'm not sure how many people will bother.
Safehouses are more like RDR2 camps now. Other people can pop in and out, and one home they saw wasn't even owned by the protagonists. You can shave or trim hair at home, but new styles still need a salon. Multiple personal vehicles per character, with working trunks where you can stash clothes and weapons. That's huge for planning heists or losing the cops.
Salons and clothing stores now have exclusive items and signature hairstyles, so you'll actually have a reason to visit different ones. And your appearance changes based on activities, gym makes you more muscular, etc.
This is only the first 15 of 69, so I'm curious what else is in there. The safehouse and trunk stuff alone feels like a big step up from GTA 5.
So what do you all think, is the optional romance thing a good call or do you wish it actually mattered for gameplay?
