Netflix stream vs the 14GB download, night and day difference
So I watched the Extended Look on Netflix when it dropped, and it looked fine to me. Then someone pointed out that Rockstar has a direct download on their site, a 14GB file. I grabbed it and yeah, night and day.
On my phone or tablet I probably wouldn't care, but on a big TV the compression from Netflix is really noticeable. The download is still compressed, obviously, but it's as close to the raw footage as Rockstar is giving us. The detail in the city shots, the lighting, the reflections, it all pops way more.
If you haven't done it yet, here's the direct link. It's a big file but worth it if you have the bandwidth. I'm not saying the Netflix version is bad, but once you see the download you won't want to go back.
Anyone else compare the two? Did you notice a big difference on your setup, or is it only obvious on certain screens?

On my setup the Netflix stream looked like low-res bodycam footage. The direct download cleans up the optics.
I didn't spot much difference on my phone. But on the main TV? It's tactical. The higher bitrate keeps fine detail intact. Reflections read clearer. Shadows don't break up into blocks.
Netflix works for a quick intel briefing. For actual analysis you want the rawest feed. I'm running the download on loop now checking patrol patterns and unit placements. Much easier to ID cruiser models and loadouts when the image isn't fighting compression.
Anyone running a 4K display noticing the same?
