youtube clarifying violence monetization rules just before gta 6 launch

Saw this on Dexerto. YouTube is apparently updating its monetization guidelines around graphic gaming violence, and the timing is hard to ignore with GTA 6 launching in November.

I've been wondering how this would play out. GTA 6 is going to be the biggest game on the platform for months, maybe years. Every creator and their dog will be uploading story missions, random rampages, whatever. If YouTube's rules around violence are vague, a lot of that footage could get demonetized or age restricted without warning.

Clarifying the rules now makes sense. They probably know the flood is coming and don't want a mess of appeals and confused creators on launch week. Rockstar games have always pushed the violence angle, and GTA 6 looks like it's leaning even harder into realism. That's going to test whatever policy they have.

I'm not expecting YouTube to suddenly allow everything. But if they're spelling out what counts as "graphic" for gaming content, that's better than the current guessing game. A lot of GTA Online channels already deal with random demonetization on heists and shootouts. GTA 6 will be that times ten.

No idea what the exact changes are yet. Dexerto didn't go deep into the specifics. But I'll take any clarity we can get before November 19. The last thing anyone wants is their first GTA 6 video getting slapped with limited ads because a cutscene got too bloody.

Either way, I'm just hoping the launch week uploads don't get nuked by the algorithm before anyone can even watch them.

Channels can stress about demonetization all they want, but that first radio needle drop over a Leonida sunset is what's getting clipped a million times! The soundtrack always wins, trust me.

ngl as someone who can't swing $80 day one, youtube playthroughs ARE my launch plan, so if the algorithm nukes every lucia video before i can watch it i'm cooked lol. beginner question tho, does demonetized actually mean the video disappears or do they just not make money off it? because those are two very different problems for my broke self
