Rockstar boss says "we'll see what people say" about GTA 6's controversial refueling system, but thinks it's so fast that "you can't complain"

Caught a quote from Rob Nelson making the rounds and it's the first time I've seen anyone at Rockstar actually talk about the refueling system without dancing around it. He apparently asked something like do you think people are going to like it, then followed up with we'll see what people say. But his take is that the refueling is so fast you can't really complain about it.

I remember when the extended look dropped and people started pausing every frame looking for gas stations. Some folks were convinced it'd be a full survival sim where you're stranded on the side of the road every ten minutes. That always felt like an overreaction. Rockstar doesn't usually add friction for the sake of it, they add it when it makes the world feel more grounded.

If refueling is just a quick stop at a pump, maybe a few seconds, then it's basically the same as washing your car in GTA 5 or feeding your horse in RDR2. You do it when you feel like it, not because the game forces you to. And if it's tied to something like vehicle condition or long road trips, I can see it adding a little texture without ruining the pace.

What I'm more curious about is whether it applies to every vehicle or just certain ones. A beat up old truck needing gas makes sense. A supercar you just stole from a dealership probably shouldn't have the same mechanic. But that's me speculating, Nelson didn't get into that from what I saw.

Either way, I'm not losing sleep over it. If it's fast, it's fine. If it's annoying, people will mod it out on PC eventually, assuming that port ever shows up.
