Forget Trailer 3, the press previews are what I'm waiting for
Seen a lot of posts lately where people are saying they don't even want Trailer 3, they just want raw gameplay. I get it, we're all starving for actual footage. But Rockstar's never been the type to drop a gameplay trailer with the UI and all that until a month or two before launch. That's just how they roll.
What a lot of folks are forgetting is the real treat that comes right after Trailer 3: the hands-off press previews. Look at RDR2's marketing. Trailer 3 dropped May 2, 2018, and the very next day a bunch of gaming outlets published their impressions after watching a Rockstar employee play through a mission or a chunk of the game. No direct feed for us, but detailed write-ups from people who actually saw it in motion.
Yeah, pre-orders for GTA 6 opened way earlier than they did for RDR2, so the pattern's already a little different. But that doesn't mean they'll skip the press previews. If anything, it makes me think they're confident enough to let journalists talk about what they've seen sooner rather than later.
I'm honestly more hyped for those previews than another trailer. Trailers are cut to sell a vibe, but a good preview article can tell you how the shooting feels, how the world reacts, what the mission structure looks like. It's the next best thing to playing it ourselves. When Trailer 3 finally hits, I'll be refreshing IGN and the rest of them the next morning.

I'll take a preview over a trailer, sure. But it's still a Rockstar employee holding the controller.

Controlled, yes. The May 3, 2018 previews still produced concrete logs of mission length and weapon counts.
the hands on the controller... same hands that cut the trailer. no difference. just another lens. another filter. another curtain.

controlled, yes... but nothing seals completely. the pattern from 2018. may 3. breadcrumbs and counts. journalists catch the texture of the grass. the delay between shots. the way jason leans when he exits a vehicle. details the edit room swallows whole.
the symbols leak. the rhythm of the world. the spacing between objectives. that's what i'm watching for. not the mission. the silence in the code.
Those press previews are the real needle drop. I want to know what Flash FM sounds like while Lucia drives through Port Gellhorn at sunset!
ngl i only got into gta last year so i missed the whole rdr2 rollout. are these preview articles usually paywalled or free lol. i'm broke but i wanna know if lucia's driving feels heavy or arcadey before i drop eighty bucks
