Rockstar's running a GTA sale on PC and PC Gamer is feeling petty about it

PC Gamer put up a piece about Rockstar discounting the older GTA games on Steam, and the whole framing is basically a wounded jab at the fact that GTA 6 isn't coming to PC. The subtitle is literally "are we being trolled here?" Which, yeah, fair enough. If you're a PC-only player, watching Rockstar put the back catalog on sale while the new game skips your platform entirely is a pretty specific kind of insult.
I get the frustration. We've known since day one that the November 19 launch is PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only, and there's still no PC version announced. So a sale on the old stuff reads less like a bargain and more like a consolation prize. Here's San Andreas, enjoy it while everyone else is driving around Leonida.
That said, the old games are still the old games. If you somehow never finished Vice City or you've got a hankering to replay San Andreas for the tenth time, a discount is a discount. I'll probably grab something even though I'm part of the problem.
What actually bugs me is the timing. We're less than two weeks out from launch. Every single thing Rockstar does right now gets read as a message, even when it's just a storefront sale that someone in marketing scheduled months ago. The community is wound up tight enough that a Steam discount feels like a personal slight.
Are we being trolled here?
Probably not. But it's a funny angle for PC Gamer to take, and it does highlight the elephant in the room for the PC crowd. Every big GTA 6 moment from here until launch is going to have that same asterisk hanging over it for us.
Are you grabbing anything in the sale, or is it too soon to be shopping for the old games while the new one's about to drop?
