First photo of the GTA 6 PS5 box is out, and yep, it's a code in a box

Push Square put up a shot of the GTA 6 PS5 physical edition that surfaced on Reddit, and the big reveal is... it's a blue plastic case. Sealed, standard PS5 branding, the usual layout. If you've bought a PlayStation game in the last five years you've seen this exact box a hundred times.

The part that actually matters: no disc inside. It's a code in a box, which is what we already knew was coming, but seeing the empty case in a photo makes it land differently. You're paying for cardboard and a download.

why this bugs me more than it should

I get the business side. Discs are expensive, most people buy digital anyway, and the install is going to be enormous regardless. But there's something grim about a physical edition that's just a voucher with extra steps. Half the reason I still buy boxes is so I can hand a game to a friend or pull it off the shelf in ten years. Can't do either with a code.

And before anyone says it, yeah, I know the box still has value for collectors. The case art, the shelf presence, whatever else Rockstar's putting in there. That's real. It's just a different thing than owning a game.

Blue case, sealed, logos in the usual spots. That's the whole story.

The timing tracks too. We're less than two weeks out from November 19, so retail stock is going to start showing up in the wild any day now. Expect a lot more of these photos, and expect someone to crack one open and confirm what we all suspect.

I'm still getting it. I'm just not pretending it's a disc.

Anyone here actually planning to buy the boxed version anyway, or are you just going digital and saving the shelf space?
