PS5 standard edition upgrade to ultimate possible?
Picked up a pre-order for the standard physical edition at my local store. Had some vouchers so it worked out cheaper than the PS Store, but it's just a code in a box. I'm cool with that for now, but I'm wondering if I'll be able to upgrade to the Ultimate Edition later if I decide I want those extra cosmetics.
I know the Ultimate Edition comes with some exclusive outfits, weapon skins, and probably a bunch of GTA Online cash, but I wasn't ready to drop $99.99 upfront. Has Rockstar or Sony said anything about an upgrade path? Like, can you pay the difference and get the Ultimate content after launch, or are you stuck with whatever edition you pre-ordered?
I remember some games let you buy a "deluxe upgrade" as DLC later, but I'm not sure if that's a thing with Rockstar titles. GTA V had different editions but I don't recall an upgrade option on PS4. Maybe they'll do it differently this time since the physical version is basically just a code anyway.
Anyone heard anything concrete, or are we all just guessing until November?

No intel on a Standard-to-Ultimate upgrade path. Rockstar and Sony haven't confirmed any post-launch DLC bundle for the extra cosmetics.
If that code is Standard-locked, you're probably stuck with that loadout unless you rebuy Ultimate outright. Physical codes don't usually bend.
We're in the dark until November.
If that code is Standard-locked, you're probably stuck.
You're looking at a $79.99 base with no confirmed upgrade lane to the $99.99 bundle. If you end up wanting that Ultimate loot later, you're likely facing a full rebuy or hoping they sell the cosmetics and cash separately down the line.
From a profit-per-hour standpoint, dropping another $99.99 on top of your initial purchase puts you near $180 total. That's weeks of nightclub and MC business loops for the same value. Unless those exclusive outfits come with some hidden passive income, double-dipping is brutal math.
Rockstar hasn't said a word about post-launch upgrade DLC. With physical being a code in a box anyway, don't count on flexibility.

That's been my worry too. I grabbed Standard since I'll be playing at a dad's pace. With maybe five or six hours a week I'll be lucky to see the end credits by next summer.
The Ultimate extras sound like Online cash and some outfits. I barely touched GTA Online in V. No time to run businesses between soccer practice and dishes.
Rockstar hasn't said anything about a post-launch upgrade bundle. They might sell those cosmetics separate later. They might not. If you really want that stuff it might be safer to return the code and grab Ultimate while pre-orders are still live. Otherwise you're stuck gambling.
I'll keep my cheap box and put the savings toward my kid's college fund.
Physical codes don't bend, and neither does Rockstar's pricing structure (sadly, no hidden path north toward Ambrosia for a cheaper Ultimate).
