I'm still on a launch base PS5 and honestly the trailers already look insane to me. They said those were captured on base hardware, right? So the game clearly runs fine on what I've got. But I keep going back and forth on whether to trade up to a Pro before November.

The problem is Rockstar hasn't said a single word about Pro enhancements. No list, no comparison, nothing. If it's just slightly better shadows and a bit more raytracing, I'm not dropping hundreds of dollars for that. I'd rather put that money toward the Ultimate Edition or just save it.

What I'd actually want to see is a locked 60fps mode with decent resolution. Or maybe a 40fps mode like some other games do on Pro. But who knows if Rockstar even cares about that. They've always been more about pushing fidelity than frame rate.

I get that they're probably focused on the base console experience since that's where most players are. And the Extended Look back in August looked smooth enough on whatever they showed it on. But it would be nice to know before pre-orders fully lock in. I already put down for the standard edition, but I could cancel and go Ultimate if I knew the Pro was worth it.

At this point I'm leaning toward just sticking with my base PS5. The game is going to be massive either way and I doubt the Pro version is some night and day difference. Rockstar usually keeps things pretty consistent across the same console family. If anything, the real upgrade will be when the PC version eventually drops, whenever that is.

So yeah, I'll probably hold off until we get some actual side by side footage from Digital Foundry or someone after launch. No point guessing now.
