el rubius saw nearly 3 hours of gta 6, here's the rundown
Caught the summary from El Rubius's preview and figured I'd drop the highlights here for anyone who missed it. He got to watch Rob Nelson play for almost three hours, and some of this stuff sounds properly next level.
First off, the gore. Nelson shot an NPC in the head with a shotgun and the head came clean off. Rubius wasn't even sure that level of dismemberment makes it into the final build. That's a big step up from GTA 5 if it stays.
Bodies can be stuffed into car trunks, and both Jason and Lucia can climb in and hide there too. So trunk hiding works for the player characters too, same as NPC disposal.
They went into a fully explorable hotel, walked through the lobby, took the elevator to the roof with no loading screen. There happened to be a helicopter up there, so they stole it. Classic.
Jewelry store robberies work outside story missions now. The 3D map showed one store with loot valued between $15k and $40k, plus entry points you can use to plan the heist. Nelson went through an employee's desk, found a safe code, opened it, and then had to pick up every gold bar, diamond, and stack of cash one by one. Even gas station registers get emptied bill by bill. That's either immersive or tedious depending on how you look at it.
Rubius said a Rockstar tech told him the map is about 3 times the size of RDR2's map. He saw it briefly and said it looked like an island without the northern section people have been rumoring about. So maybe that northern part isn't real.
No first person in the build he saw. Nelson said it hasn't been added "at the moment," so it could still change before November.
The relationship stuff sounds interesting. After Lucia took off in the stolen helicopter, Jason texted her "Hey, aren't you forgetting something?" because she left him behind after a heist. Leaving your partner during a shootout can make them mad, and that affects how cooperative and efficient they are during heists later. So the relationship stuff actually changes how heists play out.
Random encounter: a guy stopped them in the street and begged for a ride home, which kicked off a mission with a reward and a cinematic scene. So those random NPCs can actually lead somewhere.
Small details: electric scooters are in, and you can kick pedestrians while riding. In cars, Jason can open the driver's door to hit people or other vehicles. You can ask dog owners to pet their dogs, but some owners or dogs might refuse. Rubius saw Jason's arm reach toward a dog's leash as he passed. Beach crowds change with time of day, footprints form in sand, and small objects like phones and glasses fly off when NPCs get hit.
What do you all think about the trunk hiding and the one by one looting? Is that going to get old fast or add to the immersion?
