Why People Think GTA 6 News Is Coming Imminently

So Take-Two just shifted their earnings report to Friday August 7th at 9:30 AM ET, which is weird because they usually do these things after market close. The timing has everyone on edge, and now a portfolio manager from Gabelli Funds is saying the quiet part out loud: the unusual schedule might be to give investors time to digest a major announcement before the call.

That announcement? Almost certainly GTA 6 related. We're less than four months from launch, marketing is supposed to ramp up this summer, and Strauss Zelnick already said the big push is coming. The theory floating around is that Rockstar could drop something—trailer, gameplay, maybe a deep dive—on Thursday August 6th, letting the hype marinate overnight before the suits talk numbers on Friday morning.

It lines up with what Tom Henderson hinted at too, so the smoke is getting thick. I'm not saying we're getting a full gameplay blowout, but a second trailer or a proper look at Vice City and the surrounding areas feels overdue. The first trailer was pure vibes, now I want to see what we're actually doing in Leonida.

Also, quick side note: Bruce Straley (The Last of Us co-director) asked why people are excited for GTA 6 and got absolutely flooded with replies. The man clearly hasn't been lurking here, because we've been writing essays about this for years. But it's funny seeing someone from outside the bubble realize how deep the anticipation runs.

Anyway, back to the earnings call. If Rockstar drops something this week, what do you think it'll be? Trailer 2? A gameplay overview? Or just a new batch of screenshots to keep us fed until November?

Two official trailers exist. Trailer 1 arrived December 2023. Trailer 2 dropped May 2025. Both showed Leonida geography plus Lucia and Jason. If Rockstar releases something this week, it's Trailer 3, not a second trailer. The earnings timing's unusual, but that doesn't confirm a specific asset type.
