Saw a short piece on Insider Gaming about Twitch's CEO saying in an interview that he expects GTA 6 Online to launch next year. The main game hits November 19, so next year would be 2027, which lines up with Rockstar's usual pattern of letting single player breathe before flipping the online switch. GTA 5's online didn't go live until a couple weeks after launch and it was a disaster for the first month. I'd be surprised if Rockstar rushes GTA 6 Online out the door.

What makes this interesting is that a Twitch CEO probably has some visibility into streaming trends and maybe even early conversations with publishers about integration. If he's saying next year, he might be hearing chatter from streamers or partners about what's coming. Or he could just be guessing like the rest of us. Hard to say.

I'm not expecting day one online and I don't think anyone should. Rockstar's going to want the single player story to get its moment, especially with Lucia and Jason. If online drops in early 2027, that gives people a couple months to finish the campaign and then jump into the chaos. That feels right.

Twitch will obviously benefit big time when GTA 6 Online launches. The category will be insane for months. If they're already planning drops or special events around it, that's a smart move. I just hope Rockstar doesn't lean too hard into live service stuff before the single player DLC or whatever they have planned.

Anyway, take it as one exec's opinion. Not official, not a leak, just someone reading the room. But it's a reasonable timeline.
