ps store listings suggest gta 6 unlocks at midnight local time, us gets it almost last

So GTA Vice went through PlayStation Store listings across 63 countries and found something interesting. The game apparently unlocks at midnight local time everywhere, which means no global simultaneous launch. New Zealand and Australia get in first. For US players, that's a 16 hour wait after NZ goes live. If you're on the east coast, NZ midnight is 8 AM ET on November 18, so you're sitting there all day while clips start flooding in.
Rockstar hasn't confirmed any of this. It's just store data, and those listings can change. GameSpot says they reached out for comment. I'd take it with a grain of salt until we get an official launch map or tweet.
The spoiler angle is real though. If this holds, people in the US will have a full day of other regions playing before they can even boot it. I'm already planning to go dark that week. Not trying to see Lucia's first mission pop up in my feed before I've even downloaded the day one patch.
Preload starts November 12, which is also when the physical edition goes on sale. That one's just a code in a box, so no disc to install early. You still wait until the 19th to unlock.
Preorders are already past 5 million according to SensorTower, and some analysts think it could hit 25 million by launch. That's over $2 billion in revenue, which supposedly covers the whole dev budget. Wild to think about.
Anyway, if the midnight local thing is real, I'm jealous of anyone in Auckland. They'll be playing while I'm still staring at a countdown timer.
