what if trailer 3 isn't a trailer at all but a flood of in-game social media clips

Been thinking about how Rockstar showed off that in-game social media in Trailer 1 and I can't shake the idea that they might skip a traditional Trailer 3 entirely. Or at least, not do it the way we expect.

We saw those quick cuts of people posting wild stuff, car stunts, gator wrestling, twerking on a moving truck. What if that's the actual marketing plan? Just start dropping those clips on real Instagram, YouTube Shorts, TikTok, whatever, but framed as if they're coming from characters inside Leonida. Like we're scrolling the in-game feed without even realizing it.

It'd be such a Rockstar move. No big sit-down trailer with a date announcement and a dramatic voiceover. Instead, your feed just gets a 15-second reel of someone running from the cops through a swamp, or a perfect wave off the Keys, or a golf shot that ends with a fistfight. All shot with the in-game phone camera, shaky and chaotic. The kind of stuff that makes you do a double take before you realize it's not real.

People keep asking when Trailer 3 drops and what it'll show. Some folks are convinced it'll be the big gameplay reveal. But what if the gameplay reveal is already happening, just in tiny pieces, scattered across platforms, and we're not even sure it's official yet? That'd be a hell of a way to build hype without ever calling it a trailer.

I don't know if they'd go that far, but it fits the whole social media obsession the game seems to be leaning into. And honestly, I'd rather get a dozen chaotic 30-second clips than one polished trailer that's mostly cutscenes anyway.

Would you be disappointed if Rockstar never drops a proper Trailer 3 and just lets the in-game social media do the talking?

I really like this idea. Those phone clips in Trailer 1 already felt like stuff you see here in Brazil, people doing wild things on coast. But I'm not sure Rockstar will skip big Trailer 3 completely. Maybe they do both? The small clips are fun, but I still want to see one proper gameplay cut.

ok so those vertical phone clips in trailer 1 already felt like a test run for this exact thing, shaky gator footage and all. but i don't think they'd completely skip a proper trailer 3, there's too much riding on a clean gameplay sell before november.

one proper gameplay cut

yeah exactly, they still need that. maybe they just flood us with chaotic shorts first and drop one big polished cut closer to launch.
