shirt numbers 9, 19, 69 and that banner, am I overthinking this?
Caught this in Strange Man's latest breakdown and now I can't unsee it. In the extended look, there are two background characters with shirts numbered 9 and 19, and Lucia's got 69 on hers. That banner we've all seen, "Why 69 when you can 919?", always read like a dumb sex joke to me. But the numbers line up too well to ignore.
What if Rockstar is teasing that the relationship system goes beyond just Jason and Lucia? We already saw Jason hanging out with a friend in the 19 shirt while Lucia was off doing her own thing at the same time. The guy in the 9 shirt might be another close friend or someone important to the story. The banner could be asking why settle for just the Lucia and Jason pairing (69) when you can have the other two (9 and 19, so 919).
I'm not saying Rockstar is adding a full dating sim or anything. But the way they've shown the two protagonists living separate lives makes me think there's more to the companion system than we've seen so far. Maybe you can choose who to spend time with, and that affects how the story plays out. Or maybe it's just set dressing and I'm reading way too much into shirt numbers.
Do you think the 9 and 19 shirts are just background detail, or is Rockstar actually laying groundwork for a bigger relationship or companion system?

am I overthinking this?
Yes.
Rockstar's been stuffing 69 jokes into these games for over twenty years. That banner is one more juvenile gag, nothing deeper. When you go hunting for numbers, everything lines up somehow. Your brain does the rest.
And if there was a real companion system beyond Jason and Lucia, they'd sell it to us in a trailer, not whisper it through background NPC shirts. Marketing doesn't hide the good stuff. It never has.
Separate lives for the two leads, sure, that's clearly the pitch. Maybe friend hangouts come back, GTA 4 had those and people still bring up the bowling calls. But a dumb banner isn't a feature roadmap. It's set dressing with a dirty sense of humor.
