weapons visible on your character? holsters and open carry would be a nice touch

Saw a post on Reddit about this and it got me thinking. If Rockstar really is going with a more limited weapon wheel like RDR2, then having your guns actually show up on your character would be a huge part of making that feel right. I don't want to pull an RPG out of thin air, but I also don't want to be stuck with a rifle on my back in a cutscene where I'm supposed to be blending in.

The idea of choosing between open carry and concealed carry depending on the situation is something I'd love to see. Walk into a store in Vice City with a pistol on your hip and people might get nervous, but out in the Grassrivers maybe nobody bats an eye. Conceal it under a jacket and you could walk right past a cop without them reacting, unless they have a reason to search you. That kind of detail would make the world feel alive.

Customizable holsters would be a small thing that goes a long way too. Matching your holster to your outfit, or picking between a shoulder rig and a drop-leg, that's the kind of stuff I'd spend way too much time on. And if the trunk storage system from the leaks is real, it'd make sense to have to think about what you're carrying before you step out of the car. Do I grab the shotgun from the trunk and risk being seen, or just keep the pistol tucked away? I'm all for anything that adds that layer of decision-making without turning it into a chore.

Visible holsters would be a dream. We've been asking for this since 2013. If it's in, expect half the depth. Probably no real AI reaction to open carry either. Rockstar loves cinematic convenience over systemic realism. I'd love to be wrong.

I'd settle for even half that depth if it actually changes how you kit up before a job.

The pessimism is fair given the track record, but from a planning angle any visibility system adds tension. You're deciding who carries what based on role, not just damage stats.

1. Open carry in Vice City draws heat immediately. That forces a concealed piece or a clean unarmed approach for recon.

2. Out in the Grassrivers, long guns on a sling make sense. Nobody's calling the cops over a rifle where gators outnumber people.

3. Holster placement should affect draw speed versus concealment. A shoulder rig under a jacket keeps you low profile but slower on the uptake than a drop-leg.

If they tie this to outfit saves, that's actual prep work. It's not just cosmetic. It changes whether you walk into a score already compromised.

ok so i keep thinking about that may 2025 trailer and how much they showed lucia and jason just existing in the world, and if they're already building outfits with layers and jackets it feels like concealment could actually be a thing they thought about. i don't need rockstar to go full rdr2 survival mode but having the pistol actually sit on your hip in cutscenes instead of phasing in would sell the character fantasy so much harder! the grassrivers vs vice city distinction is smart too because it mirrors how they teased the different regions feeling lawless or controlled.

is probably the safe bet. still, if the clothes affect how you carry that's already more than we've had.

I keep wondering how they'd handle jacket physics if concealed carry is real. Might clip through fabric constantly, or maybe it's readable to NPC AI based on your silhouette. Seems like an animation nightmare but cool if they pull it off.

That line might be right, though I'd love to be wrong here. Could a visible rifle trigger different cop dialogue in Ambrosia than in Vice City?
