marketing keeps cutting guns and showers but the game itself is gonna be wild
Been noticing something with the marketing lately. Some of the TV ads are cutting out the guns and the sexual stuff. Like the launch trailer has those three shower scenes with Lucia and Jason, and supposedly the TV versions just remove them entirely. And I saw a Google ad where the picture of Lucia and Jason had Lucia holding a gun, but Google edited the gun out. Straight up gone.
That got me thinking about the Extended Look from August. That thing was probably heavily censored too. You know that shot of Lucia with the shotgun? You can see blood spraying out, sure, but the game ratings that came out mention dismemberment and decapitation. She shoots the dude basically in the upper neck. In the actual game his head probably comes off or his arm goes flying. But Rockstar clearly toned it down for Netflix.
And the shower scenes? Three separate times they showed Lucia and Jason in there. That wasn't an accident. I think GTA 6 is gonna lean hard into sex themes, way more than any previous GTA. Rockstar knows what they're doing with the marketing, but the actual game is gonna be the most violent and most sexual thing they've ever shipped.
People are gonna lose their minds when they see the full gore and the adult content. Even with the M rating someone will complain about something. That's just how it goes.
Do you think Rockstar intentionally toned down the marketing to avoid controversy before launch, or is this just standard ad network policies?
