if gta 6 nails the heat style bank shootout i'll lose my mind
Rockstar's been obsessed with Heat since forever. GTA 5 had Blitz Play, Michael's whole grey suit look, Devin calling everyone slick. GTA 4's Three Leaf Clover is still the best heist mission they've ever done, but it's stuck in 2008 tech. The gunplay feels floaty, the AI is dumb, the audio is compressed to hell.
What I want from GTA 6 is that downtown LA bank shootout turned up to eleven. The way Heat does it, the sound of the rifles echoing off skyscrapers, the chaos of civilians running, the cops actually using cover instead of standing in the open. Rockstar's audio team has gotten insanely good with gun sounds in RDR2, so imagine that level of detail in a modern city.
If they can make a major bank robbery feel like a real firefight, with ricochets pinging off marble columns and reload animations that don't take you out of the moment, that's the magnum opus. Something that isn't a wave shooter where you mow down cops. Something tense and loud and messy.
I'm not expecting a 1:1 recreation, obviously. But the spirit of it. The weight of every shot. The way your ears ring after a grenade goes off in a confined space. Rockstar has the budget and the talent, they just need to commit to making it feel dangerous instead of arcadey.
GTA 5's heists were fun but they always felt like a theme park ride. You knew exactly where the enemies would spawn. GTA 6 has a chance to make it feel unpredictable, like any second a cop could flank you from a side street. That's what Heat captured so well, the panic of not knowing where the next threat is coming from.
If Lucia and Jason have a mission like that, I'll be replaying it for years. Three Leaf Clover is still talked about all these years later for a reason. Give me the modern version and I'll shut up about everything else.
