liberty city as the epilogue map actually makes a lot of sense
I know this gets laughed off every time it comes up but I can't shake the feeling that LC is in the game as an epilogue area. Not a full second map with missions everywhere, just a smaller chunk you visit after the main story wraps up.
The main reason I keep coming back to this is the old Houser interview from before GTA V where they said the dream was to have all three HD era maps connected in online. We never got that with V, obviously. But now Rockstar has the resources and the time. They even have that dedicated NPC studio now, so populating a 2026 version of Liberty City with all the weird pedestrians and ambient stuff wouldn't be the same nightmare it was back then.
Plus Rockstar loves a big "holy shit" reveal. They've done it before with map expansions in other games. And we know from RDR2 that Guarma was supposed to be a full freeroam area but they ran out of time and manpower. This is the first game where they've said they didn't have to cut much. If they ever had a chance to finally do a second city, this is it.
There's also that LinkedIn thing from a while back where an employee accidentally had an updated Liberty City image on their profile. People brushed it off as leftover from GTA IV or a remaster that never happened. But combined with everything else it feels like a breadcrumb.
I'm not saying we get the whole Liberty City map with every interior and mission. But an epilogue zone with a few missions and maybe online integration later? That seems way more plausible than people give it credit for.
Do you think Rockstar would actually do this, or is it just another fan theory that's been floating around since 2023?
