Cal already peaked before GTA 6 even starts

Checked the GTA 6 site bios again and Cal stands out. Every other character is after something. Lucia wants the good life, Jason wants an easy life that keeps getting harder, Dre'Quan wants the music industry, Raul wants the next score. Cal is just drinking beer at home, listening to Coast Guard radios and worrying about birds flying in formation.

He's not trapped and he's not ambitious. Dude already hit his final form before the game even started.

I can already picture Jason showing up with a car full of guns and some emergency, and Cal refusing to get off the couch because the emergency proves his theory about the government. Most Rockstar side characters get pulled into the protagonist's chaos because they want money, status or revenge. Cal might get pulled in just because Jason is his only friend and won't stop knocking.

Everyone else is out there chasing the American dream. Cal found a cheap version with working Wi-Fi and shut the door behind him.

That's the kind of side character Rockstar does best. The ones who are already done with the world before you even meet them. I hope he gets a decent amount of screen time and not just a couple of missions. A guy who refuses to leave his couch while the state burns around him could be comedy gold.

already hit his final form

Best read on the site. Everyone else is hustling for a trailer promise while Cal's already checked out. I'll buy this character when he's in more than two missions and a forced phone call.

already hit his final form

That line about sums it up. Cal sounds like the guy who figured out the score is never worth the stress. At my age I get it. Some nights I'd rather listen to a radio and drink a beer than deal with another heist.

The part that worries me is that forced phone call prediction. Rockstar builds these great side characters then dumps them when the plot speeds up. I've got maybe two hours after the kids sleep. If I'm driving out to Cal's shack I want more than a cutscene and a gag.

Let the man stay on the couch. Just give him a real arc from that couch. That's the kind of character writing I'm looking for in my limited playtime.

Cal's giving big "retired drifter with a shell in the yard" energy. He's already got his project car and his six pack. Ain't nobody gonna make him bolt on a widebody he don't want.

Let the man stay on the couch

Exactly. Rockstar better let him stay PARKED. Nothing sadder than a side character who gets dragged out just to sell you a missile launcher.
