Social media could give stunt jumps an actual reason to exist

Been rewatching Trailer 1 and the whole social media angle got me thinking about how Rockstar might use it to bring back some old mechanics in a way that actually makes sense in the world. Stunt jumps specifically.

In the older games they were just... there. You'd find a ramp, hit it, get a little notification, and that was it. No real context beyond completion percentage. But what if in GTA 6 they tie them into a Strangers and Freaks mission? Picture this: some wannabe influencer in Vice City wants to blow up on LifeInvader or whatever the in-game app is, and they hire Lucia and Jason to film insane vehicle stunts around Leonida. You get a cut of the ad revenue or sponsorship money each time you nail a jump and the clip goes viral.

It's such a Florida thing too. The state's already full of people doing dumb stuff for clout, so having an NPC who's basically a stunt streamer would fit right in. And it gives you a reason to seek out those jumps beyond just ticking a box. Maybe the missions escalate, like first it's simple ramp jumps, then you're jumping off the Keys bridges, then through flaming hoops in Port Gellhorn. All while the influencer screams in your ear about engagement metrics.

I'm not saying this is confirmed or anything, but it's the kind of small world-building touch Rockstar's been leaning into since RDR2. They love giving mundane activities a narrative hook. If they're going to keep stunt jumps in the game, this is the way to do it.

some wannabe influencer

That's the most believable part of the whole pitch. Florida's basically a content farm already. If Rockstar's leaning into the social media angle, stunt jumps are an obvious place to stick it.

But I doubt they'll go as deep as escalating bridge jumps and flaming hoops. More likely it's a Strangers and Freaks line that starts strong, then turns into checklist padding with the same NPC barking about engagement. Rockstar loves a narrative hook until they need to fill the map.

Still, making jumps pay out instead of just ticking a box? That's a functional upgrade. I'll take it over another hidden package hunt.
