bayside in gta 6, real miami reference or just a name?
Caught this during the drop off scene with Raul Bautista. Jason asks Lucia where they are and she says Bayside. I know Bayside is an actual neighborhood in Miami, so I'm wondering if Rockstar is just using the real name or if it's a coincidence.
Most of the names we've seen so far are made up. Leonida instead of Florida, Vice City instead of Miami, Port Gellhorn, Grassrivers, all that. So a real name like Bayside sticks out. GTA has always mixed real and fake though. Vice City itself is obviously Miami but they never call it that. Sometimes they'll drop a real street or neighborhood name just because it sounds right, or as a little nod for locals.
I don't think it means the whole map is suddenly using real Miami geography. It's probably just one of those small details. The screenshot I grabbed shows the moment, but I can't tell if the area around them looks like the real Bayside or not. I'm not from Miami so I wouldn't know anyway.
I'm leaning toward it being a deliberate reference. Rockstar loves that stuff. But it could also just be a name they picked because it fits the vibe. Either way, it's a cool little detail to catch.
