Rockstar is hiring FiveM engineers again and I can't stop thinking about GTA 6 integration

Saw the job listings this morning and my brain went straight to GTA VI. Rockstar currently has Senior Software Engineer, FiveM roles open at both Leeds and London. That alone is interesting, but the description is what got me.

The team is called the Rockstar Creator Platform Team now. They work on Cfx.re stuff, FiveM and RedM included. The posting talks about low level tech, maintaining multiple code branches, release pipelines, performance and stability. A skeleton crew keeping the lights on wouldn't need that kind of description. This reads like actual engineering work.

There's also a Senior Manager, Product Creator Platform role at London. Product leadership on top of the engineering roles.

Rockstar bought Cfx.re back in 2023. At the time they made a point of saying they wanted to support the RP and creator community and improve the services Cfx.re provides. I remember thinking it was mostly about GTA Online and keeping FiveM from becoming a legal headache. Now I'm not so sure.

If the long term plan is to fold FiveM tech into GTA VI's multiplayer, these hires make a lot of sense. You'd need people who understand the existing codebase, the server infrastructure, the modding pipeline. You'd want them in place before launch, not after. November is close enough that this timing feels deliberate.

I'm not saying this confirms anything. Job postings are job postings. But Rockstar doesn't usually put FiveM in the title unless they mean it. And the fact that it's multiple roles across two studios, plus a product manager, suggests this is a real initiative.

Could be they're just expanding FiveM for GTA Online while GTA VI does its own thing. That's possible. But the creator platform branding makes me think they want one system across both games eventually. RP servers on a Rockstar backed infrastructure for GTA VI would be huge.

Either way, Rockstar putting real money into FiveM this close to launch is a signal.
