those Trailer 2 bank robbery lines are 100% gameplay, not a cutscene
Watched Trailer 2 again last night and something clicked. The part where Lucia yells "Hands above your heads" and then Jason mutters "you.. stay" to that one guard. I don't think that's scripted cutscene dialogue at all.
It sounds exactly like contextual gameplay barks. The kind of thing that fires off when you're aiming at a hostage and you press a button to give them a command. Stay, get down, follow me, hands up. Rockstar's been building toward this for years. RDR2 already had a basic version with the threaten and rob system, but this feels like a proper hostage management mechanic.
Imagine walking into a convenience store, grabbing a clerk, and being able to direct them around while you clear the register. Or during a heist, you can split the crowd, tell some to stay put while you move another to unlock a door. The trailer just used those lines because they sound natural and show off the dynamic interaction without spelling it out.
I know I'm late to the party on this one, plenty of people probably already dissected it frame by frame back in May. But it's the kind of detail that gets me hyped. Not just big set pieces, but the small systemic stuff that makes the world feel alive. If we can actually control hostages like that, it opens up a ton of emergent chaos. Imagine a robbery going sideways and you're shouting orders at NPCs while the cops roll up.
Rockstar's been quiet as hell since Trailer 2, but little things like this keep the theory machine running. I'm betting we'll see a full gameplay reveal that shows off exactly this kind of interaction. Maybe not a dedicated trailer, just a snippet in a longer breakdown. Either way, November can't come soon enough.

I've scrubbed through that bank sequence maybe two dozen times, frame by frame. I'm ninety percent sure those lines are too polished to be raw gameplay barks. Rockstar typically locks the flashy dialogue into mission scripting and hides the systemic bits underneath. GTA IV's Three Leaf Clover worked the same way. Cinematic setup, then you're dumped into full player control.
Still, I think you're onto the system beneath it. RDR2's threaten and rob mechanics were basically a proof of concept. If GTA VI gives us actual hostage commands during heists, that's a major jump past GTA V's simple point-and-shake loop. I'm betting it's a seamless blend. The trailer sells the cinematic, but the gameplay handles the chaos.
ok so. MissionRunner's probably right that the lines are too polished for raw barks but that doesn't mean the system isn't under there. the camera work in that bank shot lingers just long enough to feel like in-game animation blending, not a locked cutscene. if they're expanding RDR2's rob mechanics i'm betting it's contextual commands with scripted flair for the trailer.
too polished
