offroading in gta 6 should actually punish you for bringing a supercar
I keep thinking about this. Leonida's got swamps, the Grassrivers, all that backcountry around Mount Kalaga. If I can just blast through a muddy trail in a lowered Zentorno without any trouble, it's gonna feel like a missed opportunity.
GTA 5 had some differences. Sports cars would spin out on dirt if you pushed them, but you could still get pretty much anywhere with enough patience. It never really forced you to think about what you were driving. I want GTA 6 to go a bit further. Not full SnowRunner, nobody's asking for that. But if you're heading into the swamp, you should be sweating in a Comet. Meanwhile a lifted pickup or an ATV should feel right at home.
The source post mentioned tuning, and that's where it gets interesting. Let me slap off-road tires and a raised suspension on a sports car and make it somewhat capable. It won't be as good as a dedicated off-roader, but it'll get you through. That feels like a natural extension of the customization we already have. RDR2's horses had different temperaments and handling on rough ground, so Rockstar clearly thinks about this stuff.
I'm not expecting BeamNG levels of simulation. But if the game is called Grand Theft Auto, the vehicles should matter. The right tool for the job, you know? I'd love to see a mission where you actually have to prep a vehicle for a swamp escape or risk getting bogged down. That's the kind of detail that makes the world feel real without turning it into a chore.
