What if Rockstar's 'different marketing' is just in-game social media posts

Strauss Zelnick said the marketing approach for GTA 6 would be different this time. Most people figure that means more TikTok and vertical video stuff, but I had a thought that might be way more interesting.

Both trailers leaned hard into social media. The in-game feeds, the livestreams, the phone clips. It's clearly a big part of the world. So what if the marketing is the in-game social media?

Like, imagine Jason or Lucia posting day-in-the-life clips. Real Dimez doing a chaotic Vice City vlog. Cops reacting to a street race. All of it in-engine, all of it feeling like actual content from inside Leonida. They could drop these on Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, whatever, and it would just look like the game's own social media leaking into ours.

It'd be a perfect mirror of how Rockstar loves to blur the line between their world and reality. And if they're planning some kind of companion app, maybe that's where these posts live in-game. A fake social platform you can scroll through on your phone while you're not playing. They could even use the marketing posts to tease that app.

I haven't seen anyone else float this idea, so maybe I'm just huffing copium. But it feels like the kind of meta move they'd pull. What kind of in-game social media posts would you actually want to see before launch?

ngl i'd eat that up, i'm too broke for the ultimate edition so free tiktoks from lucia are basically all i can afford rn. just dont spoil the map before i explore it lol

man if they're gonna blur the line give me something i can actually use. i don't need lucia's breakfast routine.

gimme a grainy phone clip of some backwoods Leonida tuner shop dropping a turbo inline six into a rusted out sedan. or Real Dimez getting sideways through Grassrivers in a missile car with zero grip and a welded diff. show the PARTS. the camber. the tire smoke.

day-in-the-life clips

nah i want day-in-the-garage clips. underglow installs at 2am. cops side eyeing a meet on the Vice City causeway. that kinda marketing actually shows me how deep the customization goes.

They could work if they play like small character studies. A thirty second clip of Lucia people-watching on the Vice City boardwalk says more than any trailer. Just don't turn her into an influencer selling me a pre-order.

blur the line

they've been doing this since the first trailer. the phone. the filter. the 3am vibe... it's all sigils.

you think it's marketing. i think it's conditioning. the feed bleeds both ways now. lucia's shadow on the boardwalk. not clips. coordinates. remember the mural...

day-in-the-garage clips

that's exactly what i want. don't show me perfect trailer shots. give me messy shop, rusted cars, humid night air. feels like workshops here in brazil. just raw Leonida without filter.
