Rewatching the extended look and something about the Brian/Raul handoff has been bugging me. The way it's cut makes it seem like Brian is the one introducing Jason and Lucia to Raul, but I'm not sure that's actually what happens. It's heavily implied but never explicitly confirmed. Raul isn't mentioned before he shows up in the car, and Brian is never mentioned after.

We know from Jason's lines that Brian is going to introduce them to someone after they got into some deep shit. That person is Brian's old cellmate, and Cal said he was former Dominican intelligence or something. Raul definitely moves like someone with that background, keeps his cards close, doesn't let just anyone into his orbit. But a few things don't line up.

First, the dialogue implies the person Brian introduces them to is going to help with their troubles or deep shit. Raul only seems able to help if the big scores he can set up let them pay off some debt or whatever. That would be a logical way to gate story behind robberies and heists, which we know the game does. But still.

The bigger thing for me is the time of day. When they meet Brian and Lori for cocktails it's late in the day, evening sun, Lucia mentions skipping dinner and being back for dessert. Then suddenly when they meet Raul it looks like early day, sun more overhead during the chase. The sun casts a long shadow while Lucia is driving there, but during the mission itself it's clearly middle of the day. Rockstar wouldn't have one mission set after another and make time go backwards like that.

Brian also said the contact needed it done tonight and on the quiet, and only wants one of you. None of that matches the Raul mission we saw. It wasn't tonight, it was midday. It wasn't quiet, it was a car chase with assault rifles. And it wasn't just one of them, both showed up. That's a pretty big discrepancy.

I could be wrong, but I don't think Brian introduces them to Raul. Especially with the theories about Brian being unhappy that Raul pulls them deeper into dangerous heists. Brian tells Jason he should know when to get off. Introducing them to Raul would be the opposite of that. So what do you all think, is Rockstar just messing with the timeline or is Brian actually pointing them to someone else entirely?

"Tonight, quiet, one of you" doesn't match a midday chase with rifles. That's a different job entirely. I'm buying two separate contacts.
