What if the companion app is just a social media hub for our in-game content?

I was thinking about the old iFruit app from the GTA V days. Remember that? It had Chop training and some car customization stuff, but it never really took off. With how much GTA VI is leaning into social media as part of the world, I could see Rockstar bringing back a companion app but making it way more ambitious.

Your phone, but it's all Leonida

Picture this: you download the app and it looks like a phone launcher, but every app on it is an in-universe social platform. No real-world distractions, just a direct line into the game's culture.

The main one would be a TikTok-style app where you post short clips you've made in Director Mode. You record and edit something cool in-game, upload it to Social Club, and then it shows up in the companion app's feed. Other players can react, and the best stuff hits a trending page. It'd give Director Mode an actual purpose beyond messing around by yourself.

Then there'd be an Instagram clone for Photo Mode. We already know GTA VI is going to have way more customization than V, so people are gonna be showing off their rides, outfits, and weird Florida moments. Rockstar could even run weekly photo challenges with in-game rewards for the top posts. That alone would keep me snapping pics for months.

And before anyone asks, no, this wouldn't mix player content with NPC posts. The companion app would be purely community-driven. The in-game social media with NPCs reacting to story events and world happenings stays inside the actual game. Two separate things. The app is just a window into what other players are creating, not a replacement for the simulated feeds Rockstar builds into the world.

It's basically what iFruit should have been a decade ago. Instead of a gimmicky second screen, you'd have a reason to keep engaging with the game even when you're not playing. Scroll through other people's Vice City chaos while you're on the bus. I'd be into it.
