NBA 2K's marketing shift to a single August 18th stream — GTA 6 blitz incoming?

I used to follow the 2K cycle pretty closely before the series went downhill. Normally by now they'd be doing their usual August drip feed — a screenshot here, a dev blog there, stretching out the hype week by week. But this year they're just doing one big livestream on August 18th and calling it a day. That's it. One dump, no weekly teases.

It's weird, right? And it's not like 2K suddenly decided they hate marketing. The obvious read is that Take-Two is clearing the runway. You don't want your basketball game's marketing cycle stepping on the toes of a GTA 6 blowout. If Rockstar is about to go nuclear with trailers, screenshots, previews, whatever — you'd want the calendar as empty as possible.

Combine this with the earnings call coming up and Tom Henderson's recent tweets about info dropping soon, and it starts to feel like the dam is about to break. We've been joking about the marketing silence for months, but maybe there's actually a reason they've been so quiet. They were waiting for this window.

I'm not saying August 18th is the day GTA 6 marketing kicks off. But if 2K is getting out of the way, something big is probably right behind it. The timing lines up too well to ignore.
