What if GTA 6's intro just tells you how it ends? Like Romeo and Juliet.
Saw a post on Reddit that got me thinking. What if GTA 6 opens with a news broadcast that basically lays out the whole tragedy? A flash-forward to a crime scene, a courtroom verdict, maybe a mugshot of Lucia or Jason, then cut to 'Two years earlier...'
The OP compared it to Romeo and Juliet, where the prologue straight up tells you the lovers die. The point isn't the ending, it's watching how it all falls apart. And honestly, with a game this massive, avoiding spoilers for weeks is gonna be a nightmare. Someone will post the final mission on day one, and it'll be everywhere.
So why not lean into it? If Rockstar shows us the destination from the jump, the tension shifts to the journey. Every close call, every betrayal, every quiet moment between Lucia and Jason would hit different because you know where it's headed. It's a risky move, but it could make the whole experience feel more tragic and inevitable.
I'm not sure I'd want the entire ending spelled out, but a cryptic news clip that hints at disaster? That could be incredible. Would you be okay with Rockstar spoiling their own story in the first five minutes?

It's a neat thought, but Rockstar doesn't do linear tragedy. They do chaos you create.
the tension shifts to the journey
Only if the journey actually branches. If they flash forward to a courtroom or a body bag, they're committing to one ending. That kills replay value and player agency. Every choice would feel rigged.
A cryptic opening could work. But showing the destination sounds like a marketing trick to make the game seem "cinematic." Hype fuel.
I want to be wrong. If they pull it off, great. But GTA is about the surprise of the moment. Give me an opening I don't see coming instead of a spoiler with a filter on it.
