What if GTA 6 had a weight-based combat system and actual skill trees?

Been thinking about how Rockstar could make melee feel less like a button-mash and more like something you actually build your character around. What if your build mattered beyond just cosmetics?

Picture this: a heavier Lucia or Jason hits harder with fists and melee weapons, can take more punishment, but vaulting over fences or sprinting feels sluggish. A leaner build parries faster, moves quicker, but you're not gonna win a slugfest against a big dude. Kinda like how weight worked in San Andreas but actually tied to combat flow instead of just stats.

And stealth. Right now it's basically crouch-walk and hope the AI doesn't spin around. What if you could train with specific NPCs to unlock new moves? Like a former spec-ops guy in Port Gellhorn who teaches you silent takedowns, or a street fighter in Vice City who shows you how to disarm someone with a knife. Make it feel earned, not just a stat you level up by sneaking in circles.

Which brings me to skill systems. GTA has never really had one outside of the RPG-lite stuff in San Andreas. If Rockstar did it now, I'd want it to be organic. No XP bars floating over heads. Just your character getting better at things the more you do them, and maybe some perks you unlock through story choices or side missions. Not full-on Cyberpunk, but something that makes Lucia and Jason feel distinct by the endgame.

And for Online, height sliders. Please. Let me make a character that doesn't look like a default preset. Also curious what other features people want to see carry over or get revamped for Online. Safe houses with actual customization? Businesses that aren't just phone calls and fetch quests?

What's one skill or trait you'd want to level up in a GTA game if they went full RPG with it?

Respect. I'm stripping weight off my cars though. Roll cage. No rear seats. Carbon panels. Make it FEEL light in the corners. That's the only skill tree I need. Keep your melee. I'm here to tune.

weight based combat would slap for RP servers. right now everyones just a reskin with the same strafe speed and punch damage. if lucia can actually be built different from jason based on how you play? thats gonna change how crews operate.

respect to tuner but car meta always dominates RP anyway. give me a lean build that can vault fences during a foot chase though. cops and robbers finally gets some depth.

organic skill gains without XP bars sounds clean too. fivem servers try this with scripts but it always feels janky. rockstar doing it native means youre not grinding sneak loops, youre just living in the world.

safehouses with real customization and height sliders for online? thats the stuff RP communities have been begging for. businesses that feel lived in instead of menu spam.

If they go this route, it's all about crew comp for me.

if lucia can actually be built different from jason based on how you play

That's the difference between a stealth entry and a loud breach. Heavy build carries the saw and kicks doors while the lean build is already over the fence cutting alarm lines. You'd need actual comms discipline so nobody's out of position.

Organic gains work better for heists than XP bars. No menu grinding. Just run the job and get smoother with your assigned kit. But if Online locks utility behind height sliders, payout efficiency gets weird. Short driver with a low profile but can't reach the pedals on some classics? That's a problem.

One skill I'd want: lockpick speed under pressure. No mini-game. Just cleaner execution the more you do it.
