the construction sites in the extended look got me thinking about time progression
Caught a few construction sites in the extended look and now I can't stop thinking about whether Rockstar is carrying over that RDR2 thing where buildings actually get built as the story moves along. That was one of those details that stuck with me more than any shootout. You'd ride past a half finished house early on, come back twenty hours later and it's got walls and a roof. It made the world feel like it was living without you.
So now I'm wondering what else changes in Leonida. Do the ads and flyers around Vice City get swapped out as time passes? Do NPCs dress differently depending on the time of day or if there's some kind of seasonal shift? Are they actually doing different things at different hours, like RDR2's towns slowing down at night? I know Rockstar said they learned a lot from RDR2 and this is supposedly the most expensive game ever made, so it would make sense for all that stuff to be in there.
My most notable RDR2 memory is probably the Valentine construction site, but also just watching NPCs go about their routines. The guy building the house near Horseshoe Overlook, the workers in Saint Denis. It wasn't just window dressing. If GTA 6 has even half of that, I'll be happy. I'd love to see a construction site in Vice City slowly turn into a finished building by the endgame, that kind of thing makes the map feel alive in a way static set dressing never will.
