Shrek 2 remaster leaked and someone actually suggested it drop on GTA 6 launch day

So an Xbox store page went up early for a Shrek 2 remaster. It's gone now but people grabbed screenshots. Textures upgraded, UI cleaned up, 4K support. Same co-op as the old PS2 game, up to four players local or online, playing as Shrek, Fiona, Donkey, all that.

They're adding a photo mode and a cheat mode too. Aspyr is handling it, same studio that did those Lord of the Rings re-releases. No price or date listed yet.

The funniest part is GameSpot's writeup. They straight up said Aspyr should release it on November 19 to go head to head with GTA 6. Like that's a real fight. Shrek 2 remaster vs the biggest game of the decade. I can't tell if they're joking or if someone at Aspyr is actually considering it.

The official Shrek account also posted a compilation of old Shrek games with the caption "Only real gamers played Shrek" and people think it's teasing the remaster. The clip includes the original Shrek 2 game, Shrek Smash N' Crash Racing, and Shrek Super Party. That last one is apparently one of Inde Navarrette's favorites, which is a weird crossover I didn't expect today.

Shrek's had a weird year in gaming already. He showed up in Brawlhalla and FIFA Heroes. And the first movie was back in theaters for the 25th anniversary. Shrek 5 is coming summer 2027.

But back to the real question. GTA 6 drops November 19. Would you actually boot up a Shrek 2 remaster that day, even for the memes? Or is that just GameSpot trying to manufacture a rivalry that doesn't exist?
