rockstar's trailers never show the real game and gta 6 is no different
I keep coming back to that RDR2 feeling. When the first Red Dead 2 trailer hit, I thought 'okay, a sharper Red Dead.' By the time all of them were out, I still figured it was just a more detailed version of what I already knew. Then I actually played it. The lighting, the landscapes, the way gunfights could spiral into something completely unplanned, the little interactions everywhere. No trailer or gameplay video could have prepared me for that first session. Rockstar built something that felt like its own category.
Now I'm looking at GTA 6 and I get the same vibe, maybe stronger. We've had two trailers, the extended look, and a whole launch trailer. We know Lucia and Jason, we know the setting, we've seen snippets of the world and the characters. And I still don't think any of us actually knows what this game is going to feel like. The gap between what they've shown and what it'll be when we're holding the controller feels massive.
Rockstar is weirdly good at this. They show just enough to get us hyped, but the real surprise is always the stuff you can't see in a video. The systems, the randomness, the way the world reacts when you're not following the script. We all have our wishlists and predictions, but Rockstar tends to make something nobody was asking for and then it becomes the thing everyone talks about. I'm done trying to predict it. Just want to boot it up and get that same jolt I got the first time I rode into Valentine at dawn.
