Push Square writer squeezed in a 10-hour platinum before GTA 6, and I get the impulse

Caught a Push Square opinion piece about Hellraiser: Revival and honestly the most relatable part has nothing to do with Hellraiser. The writer says he's avoiding any big time-sink game right now because GTA 6 is basically at the door, so he went looking for something short instead.

He landed on Hellraiser: Revival, knocked out a roughly 10-hour playthrough, and got the Platinum out of it. Calls it fun AA horror. Says he's never actually watched a Hellraiser film and now he's wondering if he should.

That whole "I can't start anything long" thing is real though. November 19 is close enough that I've started doing the same math with everything on my backlog. Anything over 20 hours feels like a commitment I can't make right now. I've got stuff sitting half-finished that I keep telling myself I'll get back to after Leonida, and we both know how that's going to go.

Weird side note, he mentions he's playing Ocarina of Time at the moment, which is a funny choice for somebody claiming he doesn't want a big game. Maybe he means he's already deep into it and doesn't want to add a second one. Fair enough.

Anyway, the pattern is clear. The next couple weeks are for short games, quick platinums, and whatever you can wrap up before the 19th. Hellraiser: Revival apparently fits the bill if you're into horror and don't mind something that's a bit rough around the edges. Not my genre, but I respect the strategy.

I'm mostly using the time to clear out a couple of small indies and finally finish a replay of something I already know. No new 60-hour RPGs. Not this close to launch. That's how you end up abandoning it halfway through and never going back.
