Acclaim is selling a "Get That Acclaim SIX" bundle on Steam, and it's exactly as shameless as it sounds
So Insider Gaming spotted that Acclaim, yes that Acclaim, has thrown together a Steam bundle called "Get That Acclaim SIX." The whole thing exists to ride the wave of people searching for GTA 6. That's it. That's the post.
I get it from a marketing standpoint. Search traffic is search traffic, and a publisher with a name that happens to rhyme with the number six is sitting on a gift. Still, there's something funny about a company that's been around forever trying to catch a ride on Rockstar's coat tails with a pun and a discount bundle.
the bar for GTA 6 marketing stunts is on the floor
We've had a wild few months of brands doing this. Everyone wants a piece of the hype before November 19 rolls around. Some of it's been clever, most of it's been desperate, and this one lands somewhere in the middle. At least it's not pretending to be news.
What gets me is that the bundle has nothing to do with GTA 6. No crossover, no joke game, no elaborate prank. Just a normal Steam bundle with a cheeky name slapped on it. Insider Gaming's headline does more work than the actual product does.
we're going to see a lot more of this
Pre-orders have been live since June, the Extended Look dropped back in August, and we're a couple weeks out from launch. Every brand with a marketing budget and a pulse is going to try something. Expect more puns. Expect more bundles. Expect at least one fast food chain to name a burger after Lucia.
The Acclaim one is harmless, honestly. It's not scamming anyone, it's not pretending to be an insider, and it's not selling fake footage. It's just a company being loud in the middle of a crowded room. I'd rather laugh at this than read another article built on a single sentence of nothing.
If you're actually buying it, I'd love to know why. Not judging. Mostly.
