this gta 5 prison mod is the kind of thing gta 6 needs to steal

Caught a PC Gamer piece on a GTA 5 mod that basically turns the prison into its own little world. Not just a spawn point or a loading screen, but a full-on game within a game. Factions, economy, the whole Shawshank vibe. You're actually doing time, not just waiting it out.
Roleplay servers have been doing prison stuff for years, but this mod bakes it right into singleplayer. It's the kind of system that makes the world feel bigger. I keep thinking about GTA 6 and how Lucia's story starts with her in prison. What if Rockstar took notes from this? A proper prison segment that's more than a cutscene. Maybe you have to navigate the yard, earn respect, plan an escape. Could be a tutorial area that actually matters.
I'm not saying I want a full prison sim, but a few hours of that before the open world opens up would be incredible. The mod shows it's possible. Rockstar loves those immersive details, and with the power of current gen consoles they could go deep. Imagine a prison break that sets up the whole first act. Or even getting arrested later and having to do a stint, not just losing your weapons and spawning outside the station.
What do you think, would a fleshed out prison system add to the game or just slow things down?

Booking needs teeth. Right now getting busted is just a load screen and a hospital bill. This mod proves custody can be actual gameplay.
Lucia's opening behind bars is a solid tutorial bed. Learn how contraband moves, how COs run the yard, how the perimeter works. Makes the world feel supervised.
But for open world arrests, don't overdo it. I'm talking a few in-game days tops for a felony spree, less for misdemeanors. You do the stint, you lose your stash, you hit the street lighter. Real consequence.
The current wanted loop has no stakes. Turning it into a correctional hold would make me think twice before going loud.
Give me a yard radio station and I'm sold! That mod's got the slow burn mood, like catching a weak signal through prison static.

Exactly. A few in-game days without Radio Mirror Park blaring would sting more than any hospital bill. Drop us back into the Leonida sun after and the whole thing feels earned.
I like the idea for Lucia's opening. But I've got two kids and maybe ninety minutes on a good night. I don't need a whole prison sim. Give me the escape, a day inside to learn the ropes, then let me loose in Leonida.
