Saw Insider Gaming put up a piece saying the Leonida map in GTA 6 is Rockstar's biggest map ever created. The article itself is pretty thin, basically one line saying it's been revealed and that's it. No square mileage, no comparison chart, nothing. But if it's true, that's a pretty wild stat.

We already knew Leonida was going to be big from the trailers. Vice City proper, the Keys, Grassrivers, Mount Kalaga, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia. That's a lot of distinct regions packed into one state. But biggest ever? That would put it above RDR2's map, which was already massive and felt endless in places. And RDR2 had the benefit of horses and slow travel. GTA 6 is going to have cars, planes, probably boats everywhere. A map that size with modern vehicle speeds could be overwhelming or incredible depending on how they fill it.

What I'm curious about is whether "biggest" means total land area or just the playable boundary. Rockstar has done the thing before where water counts toward map size. Los Santos in GTA 5 felt smaller than it was because a chunk of the map was ocean. If Leonida is mostly land with a huge coastline and the Keys scattered around, that's a different beast entirely.

I'm not going to get too hyped until we see actual measurements or someone does the classic fan math with the leaked coordinates. But the idea of driving from one end of Leonida to the other and it taking a real chunk of time is exactly what I want from this game. I just hope the density holds up. A huge map with nothing in it would be worse than a smaller one that feels alive.
