rockstar lawyers shut down the gta 5 switch port group

Dexerto's got a piece up about the modders who were working on an unofficial GTA 5 port for the Switch. Sounds like Rockstar's legal team got involved and the group behind it is calling it quits.

Can't say I'm shocked. Rockstar has always been quick to protect their stuff, especially when it comes to unofficial ports. The Switch angle is interesting though. People have wanted GTA 5 on that thing for years, so modders tried to fill the gap. Now they're done.

Part of me gets why Rockstar does this. They don't want some janky port floating around making the game look bad or cutting into future sales. But it's still a bummer for the folks who put in the work. Those projects are usually labors of love, not some big piracy ring.

Anyway, with GTA 6 coming in November, Rockstar's probably extra twitchy about anything that touches their IP right now. Not the news I wanted to wake up to but it tracks.
